Happy (Saint) Valentine's Day

From Eastern Mennonite University, 1200 Park Rd, Harrisonburg, VA 22802, USA
Let's remember the reason for the season...

I first encountered Ted Swartz in my 20s at a Church of the Brethren district conference meeting in my home state of Iowa. At that time he was with his former partner, Lee Eshleman, who sadly took his own life after battling depression for years. Ted has continued to do comedy and lives here in Harrisonburg. He's also a graduate of Eastern Mennonite Seminary, and so has come into a few of my classes to talk about his creative process. The guy is a true comic, in that he is incredibly intelligent and quick-witted. Combine that with good stage skills and timing and you've got something special. Ted has a memoir due out this year from Herald Press, the Mennonite publishing house, called Laughter is Sacred Space. It's already on my to-read list.

So happy (Saint) Valentine's Day from Ted & Company TheaterWorks!
